There are a few things you should make sure of when filming your video.
1. Choose a place in your house that is free from clutter, well lit, and has enough room for everyone to fit comfortably in your shot. Make it personal! It doesn’t have to be a blank wall, but it shouldn’t be distracting.
2. Set the camera to where it is in landscape mode, not portrait.
3. Make sure your camera is set up in a way that it won’t be shaky, and that it is at eye level. You will want to be able to look straight forward to see the camera. You should not have to bend your neck up or down to see the camera. You can use a stack of books or a tripod to help with height.
4. Make sure the camera is straight and not tilted.
5. Make sure that you are well lit from the front, and there is not a bright light or a window behind you.
6. Make sure everyone is completely in the shot, If one person doesn’t fit, move the camera back.
7. Look nice! Wear your best.
8. Now that you are ready, if you have a speaking part make sure to speak loudly and clearly.
9. Once you press record, take a few seconds to get situated, pause for 5 seconds while looking at the camera in place, and then get started.
10. Look at the camera lens, not the screen, when recording.
11. Once you are done, pause for 10 seconds in place, while looking at the camera before turning off the recording.
12. Put your picture or video on your computer or email it to yourself; rename the file: “Full name or family name”
13. Click the link sent in the email from Temple, and drop the file in the Google doc.
14. That’s it! Done!
